Has the Kudalini Yoga made me feel unwell?

Hi there. I have been practicing Hatha Yoga regularly for about 2 years now and about 3 weeks ago I discovered Kundalini Yoga. I was hooked after the first class and felt amazing. I bought Maya Fiennes detox and de-stress dvd to do every morning and even got to go to one of her classes. My eating habits changed and I was eating a lot less, mainly fruits and salads but I by no way starved myself. I was feeling full of life, happy and thinking clearly. It was what I had been looking for! Then… I caught a cold off of my daughter and I have never felt so ill in my whole life! I honestly thought my immune system would be so strong and usually I can shake off a cold in a day or two but it has been 12 days and counting! My sinuses are constantly blocked and the only thing which makes me feel better is junk food! I can’t face fruit or any Yoga. I feel like I’m undoing all my good work! What do you think it is? Just bad luck? Or did I overdo it? Or do you think I feel so bad as my body is actually detoxifying? Do you think its related? Has anyone been through this? Many Thanks for any help or advice xxx

Truth about 10 Reasons for Yoga according to Yoga Day USA

Yoga Day USA lists “Top 10 Reasons to Try Yoga for Life” on their website www.YogaDayUSA.org Unfortunately, most of their reasons have little to do with authentic, traditional Yoga. THE TRUTH ABOUT YOGA: Most people in the West, and also many in India, confuse Yoga with Hatha Yoga, the system of bodily postures. But Yoga is primarily a spiritual discipline. (Paramahansa Yogananda) Yoga has become the health and fitness system of choice. This is odd because it is the mind – not the body – that is the main target of all genuine Yoga practices …. To regard Yoga primarily as a set of practices for increasing strength and flexibility while calming the nervous system is to mistake the husk for the kernel. (Pandit Rajmani Tigunait) Like many arts and sciences that are profound, beautiful, and powerful, yoga has suffered from the spiritual poverty of the modern world–it has been trivialized, watered down, or reduced to cliches. The deep and eternal essence of yoga has been misrepresented and packaged for personal profit by clever people. (Bhole Prabhu) In ancient times hatha Yoga was practiced for many years as a preparation for higher states of consciousness. Now however, the real purpose of this great science is being altogether forgotten . The hatha Yoga practices which were designed by the rishis and sages of old, for the evolution of mankind, are now being understood and utilized in a very limited sense. (Swami Satyananda Saraswati) Yoga is not mere acrobatics . Some

Is yoga enough to get toned and lose weight?

I am 21 years old, 5″6 and about 130 pounds..I actually havent weighed myself in a really long time, but my measurments are 35 -27- 35.
I have started doing yoga, and am wondering if that is enough to lose a few pounds and get rid of the cellulite on my legs and bum, and get rid of my belly.
If I do vinyasa and hatha yoga is that enough cardio, or should I keep doing yoga and then add extra cardio like taking long brisk walks? I am not a running or going to the gym kind of girl, but I do want to get in shape and lose weight.
Do you have any suggestions?
