I went to the gym on campus and got an assessment for what my body type is and where I want to be health wise. I got a workout plan, but he also recommended I do some of the classes they have during the week. I already do yoga on Fridays, but he thinks I should do kick boxing on Mondays and Wednesdays too. I also have step practice on Tuesdays.
Is it overworking to do a workout in the gym and then a class later in the day? Keep this in mind: I hardly get enough sleep and I take the bus for three hours to get to school. My book bag is thirty pounds and I carry that too.
Remember, I want to be fit and healthy, not skinny. So, I want to be on the level to do as much as I can to get there. But, I’m just starting and I’m over weight. I don’t want to do too much!

Hope in the Dome
Sizzle, sizzle, drip, drop, wipe. That’s what was going on with my body. It was only 93º in New Orleans, about 17º cooler than Tucson, AZ. But the humidity was at 54%! So I was sweating more than someone doing bikram yoga. Not attractive. We just had a quick dinner at one of the vendors in front of the Superdome. It wasn’t that good but I was starving and not willing to turn down food, any shape or form. So I quickly scarfed it down, while waiting to go inside the Dome. As I look around I see people scattered everywhere. There’s always a rush getting into the dome, but why so many today? Oh, wait, Skillets playing.
When it got closer to them opening the gates we got up and joined the growing crowd. Bad idea. Everyone was smooshed together like a PB&J that’s been in your backpack since last Friday. So, it was as hot as a sauna, the sun was beating down harshly on my scalp, and the people around me smelled worse then the boys locker room after football practice. I’ve got to admit, it was hard to breathe in the midst of all that.
“Whoop!!!!” people shouted, bringing their sweaty palms together to form dozens of claps. “They’re opening the doors, finally,” said Lydia in a thankful voice. Slowly, step-by-step the crowd moves forward. When I get up to the gate it was pure chaos. People are pushing from all sides trying to get into the air-conditioned dome, screaming, singing and breathing. “Open your bag mam,” says the security guard. I quickly unzip it and get through. We get to good seats and chill, literally.
Once it starts and all the daily shenanigans are over, the first speaker walks out. He introduces himself as Spencer West. But the crowd didn’t gasp because of that, the crowd gasped because he had no legs. Sadly that was the first thing I noticed about him. He opened with,” So I know your all thinking what happened? Well I was at a magic show and I volunteered to be cut in half. Yeah…I can’t stress to you how important the putting-you-back-together part is.” Ha ha ha, chuckles the crowd. Then he tells us what really happened. He lost his legs at age five to a disease he had. He was bullied his whole life, enduring pain and humiliation for years. But the moment that changed his life was when he was helping out in Africa. He remembers all the kids in the village running towards him with big smiles on their faces shouting questions at him. The first question they asked him was “What is your name?” Something he wasn’t used to being asked first. So he answered question after question. Then a brave little girl stands up. “Okay, here’s the question everyone always asks” he thought. She then said “I thought stuff like this didn’t happen to white people.” Shock took over him. Realization that his life wasn’t really that bad. The fact that these little kids thought this way was horrible. For them to think like that, or to think that their lives weren’t as important because the color of their skin was awful.
The Super Dome was silent. All 37,000 youth were silent with shock. Then Spencer said, “And I told them, I told them to never think like that. Never let the way you are stop you from doing ANYTHING. Especially because you’re different.” Then he looked deeply into the crowd and said, “ So I invite you to stand with me, if you want to be the change. If your not physically able, you know, that’s okay. Because Rosa Parks showed that sitting down is easily as effective.” I stood up, others stood up. We wanted to be the change of New Orleans. A small step towards giving the town of New Orleans hope. Then Spencer West got out of his wheelchair and walked using his hands all the way across the stage and back. “Never give up, and never lose hope, never.” Then he walked off stage. The crowd erupted in cheers, whoops and hollers.
I know it’s long I will give you full points if you help me out though. Please? Oh I am a sophomore in Highschool if that helps. haha.

Okay, I am five foot four and 140 pounds. And to the person who posted the firstb answer, your estimates on the calories were WAY too high. I get 1,500 calories to 2,000 a day

I’m 16 years old, a female, and 5’1 and 85 lbs. I am currently burning around 600-700 calories per day on weekdays doing moderate exercises like yoga, speed dynamics, dance workout videos, etc. I probably eat around 850-1000 calories per day. For breakfast, i have a small bowl of high-fiber, low-fat cereal with skim milk and a vitamin. For lunch i have half a protein bar, a bottle of water, fruit (like a sandwich bag full of grapes), sugar-free Jello and a healthy whole grain bar. For an afternoon snack, i have high-fiber low-fat crackers or dry cereal or a 100 calorie snack pack (only ones without sat fat). Then for dinner i have black beans or grilled chicken or shrimp with skim milk and a veggie.
I’ve always heard people say that you can go into starvation mode under 1000 or even 1200 calories and you store fat. Well…what if you hardly had any fat to begin with…would you keep it or add more? And what if you are never hungry? Will you still lose weight, burning 600 calories and eating 900?
