Six Uses of the P90X Yoga Blocks

Will I need a yoga block for Namaste yoga?

Yoga blocks.. I am buying a yoga block for a friend for christmas. How many does one need.?

I am not sure what they are used for so I am unsure of how many I should buy him. Is one completely useless without a second?
